Project all motor crx

K20 Powered CRX takes on the Pro All Motor class

from drags to riches (almost)

This project has come a long way since the beginning. To compete at the professional level as a privateer is a difficult if not (at times,
it seems) an impossible task. Our friend Mike has learned all about the personal sacrifice it takes to be a racer. Success come in small
increments and it is sometimes difficult to keep your eye on the prize. It may seem to some that it just 'aint worth it but, true racers
know the feeling of making a great pass. It seems as though everything is finally starting to come together for this car and driver.

The car started out as a 1989 CRX DX with a B-series powerplant. That package could have been competitive 3-4 years ago but, now that
the all motor class is deep into the 9's, a K-series bullet is what was needed. Step in Ron Acevedo from Intrinsic Performance Solutions.
We have had a relationship with Ron and IPS from its inception, helping to build several prototype vehicles and test motors. Ron had
seen the progress of the CRX at our shop and was kind enough to sponsor the first K motor setup.

The original roll cage was built by RLR. We put in some additonal tubes to tie in the front shock towers and fabbed all of the
modifications for the K-swap. The custom bodywork and paint were all done in house here at After Hours. We developed a full flat
bottom with a diffuser to reduce aerodynamic drag at the top end. A custom stepped header was fabricated by us to specs by IPS
and Burns Stainless. The cylinder head was ported by Tom at Portflow Design. We also designed and fabricated a huge air intake scoop
to feed the IPS plenum style manifold. All of the other ancilliary items for the motor were also fabricated here at After Hours.
The engine management is handled by a Hondata KPro system. All this is wired by us using a modified RSX engine harness with a
custom carbon fiber switch panel and relay/ECU mount. The guages are your standard drag race style with a huge Autometer tach
and shift light mounted to another carbon fiber panel. The tuning is done by Shawn Church of Church Automotive Testing. The car
has had few different rod and stroke combinations since the first motor, all of which are designed by IPS with their proprietary JE
pistons. The motor has a dry sump oiling system and runs on C-12 race gas. Best time so far with the current combo is a 10.01 @
134.7mph.

We ain't done yet. Next season calls for more power and putting the car on a diet. See whats up.
